Ecodesign Directive 2009/125/CE ErP2021 Compliance

/, News & Events/Ecodesign Directive 2009/125/CE ErP2021 Compliance

The European Union, with Directive 2009/125/EC ErP and the related delegated regulations, has undertaken a path to reduce the energy consumption of appliances connected to energy use. As a manufacturer of chillers
and Free Cooling, we are actively involved in achieving this goal through the application of the principles of
EcoDesign.

In this scenario, Regulation (EU) 2016/2281 defines the EcoDesign requirements for cooling products and high
temperature process chillers (up to 2MW rated power). For process cooling chillers, the regulation requires
compliance with precise SEPR HT seasonal efficiency limits and a series of information requirements to complete the documentation of the units. Compliance with these points is essential to be able to declare the CE conformity of the machines and consequently to allow their marketing in the EU market.

The application of the minimum seasonal efficiency limits SEPR HT foresees two distinct steps called TIER1 and TIER2. TIER 1 coincided with the entry into force of the Regulation (01/01/2018) while TIER 2, which will entry into force from 01/01/2021, will raise the minimum seasonal energy performance limits SEPR HT making them more
restrictive.
